Slowing Down and Sharing Time: The True Gifts of the Season
Happy holidays from our Greyston Bakery family to yours! We are in the business of spreading cheer through our sweet treats, and this year, we want to reflect on the cheer within the bakery.
We asked each other some questions about traditions, food and general holiday merriment so you could get to know our bakers and staff a little better. We found the most memorable moments were those spent with loved ones, eating and sharing stories- a good reminder as we stress over the best gift in our bustle of last minute shopping.
“When I was a kid in the Dominican Republic, we had a big table filled with food- apples, candy, rice and corn, chicken, pork. And we ate the whole day! I loved all of it.”- Lewis, Bakery Team
“The best gift I ever received was a sweater that my aunt made with my name sewn on it. She surprised me with the sweater and it looked really good.”- Tyronne, Bakery Team
“Last Christmas was my favorite. We started eating at noon and didn’t finish until 6! My mom made a Pandora, an Italian cake, and it was so delicious. I miss it!”- Sara, Quality Assurance
“My favorite memory from the holidays is going down South to see my great grandma. We all lived in different states, so it was a time we could all be together.” – Rob, Bakery Team
“My family eats Puerto Rican food over the holidays. My favorite is arroz con gandules- rice with pigeon peas. It’s delicious.” – Michelle, Office Administration
“Over the holidays, my grandma makes me a sweet potato pie. It’s the best gift ever.”- Mike, Bakery Team
“When my son was 5, I bought him a toy motorcycle. He was so happy when he opened it, his face lit up!”- Trish, Bakery Team
We’d love to hear more about your favorite holiday traditions, memories and flavors. Brownie points if they have to do with food!
We wish you a warm, happy and peace-filled holiday season!
