Hello, Greyston Bakery fans! Looking to turn up the heat this Valentine’s Day? If you’re craving a dessert that’s rich, indulgent, and just a little unexpected, our test kitchen team has you covered. This Mexican Hot Chocolate Brownie Affogato combines a warm, fudgy Greyston Bakery brownie with cold, creamy ice cream and a silky chocolate sauce infused with cinnamon and a hint of spice.
It’s sweet. It’s spicy. And best of all, it’s incredibly easy to make. Whether you’re planning a cozy date night, celebrating Galentine’s Day, or simply treating yourself, this elevated dessert turns Valentine’s Day into an experience.
For this recipe, we recommend using your favorite store-bought Greyston Bakery brownies, available in select stores, including Whole Foods nation-wide, or online. Chocolate Fudge Brownie or Double Chocolate Chip Blondie work beautifully here, but feel free to experiment with Seasonal, Gluten Free or Vegan/Plant-Based varieties as well.

Makes Two Servings. To make more servings, simply multiply to get your desired amount!
The Ingredients
-
2 ea. Greyston Bakery Brownies (We recommend Chocolate Fudge Brownie or Double Chocolate Chip Blondie)
-
2 scoops vanilla or cinnamon ice cream
-
½ C. whole milk (or dairy-free alternative)
-
¼ C. dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
-
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
-
Pinch of chili powder or cayenne (adjust to taste)
-
½ tsp. vanilla extract
Optional Toppings: whipped cream, shaved chocolate, flaky sea salt, or a cinnamon stick
The Process
Step One: Warm the brownies. Heat them in a 300°F oven for 5 - 7 minutes or microwave briefly until just warmed through. The goal is a soft, fudgy texture, warm but not hot.
Step Two: In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the milk until steaming. Add the dark chocolate and whisk gently until melted and smooth. Stir in cinnamon, chili powder or cayenne, and vanilla. This Mexican-inspired hot chocolate sauce should be glossy, rich, and fragrant.
Step Three: Place one warm brownie in each serving bowl or glass. This is the foundation of your affogato and the star of the show.
Step Four: Top each brownie with a generous scoop of ice cream. Vanilla keeps things classic, while cinnamon ice cream adds an extra layer of warmth and spice.
Step Five: Slowly pour the warm Mexican hot chocolate sauce over the ice cream and brownie. Watch as it melts into all the nooks and crannies. This is where the magic happens.
Step Six: Finish with your favorite toppings, if desired. A sprinkle of shaved chocolate, a pinch of flaky sea salt, or a dollop of whipped cream takes this dessert to the next level.

Serve immediately and enjoy the contrast of warm and cold, sweet and spicy. Like all of our recipes, this one is completely customizable. Adjust the spice level to your liking, swap in dairy-free ice cream, or try different Greyston Bakery brownie flavors to make it your own.
